Biffer or an online subscription: what changes for you

A single payment, clear plans, every feature for everyone. The only difference between the free plan and the unlimited plan is the number of files processed per month. A firm that redacts two contracts a month can stay on the free plan with complete peace of mind; a department that prepares files every day buys one license per computer and works without a second thought. Compared with online anonymization services sold by subscription, the difference shows on four points.

We designed this model so that occasional use is free and daily use costs less than a lunch, once and for all. Every plan relies on the same application, available on the download Biffer page, and on the same principle: processing happens on your computer, as our offline software page explains.

How sign-in and the key work

The first time you open it, Biffer asks for your email address and sends you a confirmation link. One click on that link, and the software receives a key tied to your address and to your computer's identifier. The key is then checked locally, offline: you can disconnect from the network and Biffer keeps working. Your email address is enough, you do not need a password. The sign-in only serves to deliver the key; your files and the content of your jobs stay on your computer, and the free plan's monthly counter is kept on your computer.

With the free plan, the key carries the limit of five files per month. With the unlimited plan, the license is activated in the software, from Settings, with the email address used for the order: the limit is lifted for good on the version purchased. One payment covers one computer: if you work on a Mac at the office and a PC at home, you need two licenses. The license is tied to that computer and valid for life for the current version; a new computer, or a system reinstall that changes its identifier, calls for a new license. A custom version for your business

Some organizations need more than a license. The custom plan meeting is a chance to talk it through simply, and we cover four areas:

• Specific data formats: exports from your business software, internal nomenclatures, file templates.
• Large volumes of documents, processed without slowing your teams down.
• Server-side and automated operations: batch processing, integration of Biffer with your tools and document templates.
• Full customization: your colors, your logo, your labels, detection fields and replacement rules specific to your business.

We build these adaptations on quote, with deployment across all computers, a single invoice and, if you wish, team training delivered by Romain Rissoan, a trainer by profession. The starting point is a thirty-minute meeting to understand your documents, your confidentiality constraints and the number of computers: book a meeting. You leave with a costed proposal within a few days. The custom plan rests on the same offline principle: your files stay with you, on your computers or your servers, customization included.

Buying for a team

When you order, on the get Biffer page, choose the quantity: you get as many licenses as users, and you enter each person's email address. Each colleague receives their key by email, opens Biffer with that address and activates their unlimited license in the software, from Settings. Licenses are assigned by email and each one is tied to a computer, in line with the "one license per computer" rule.

For a larger deployment (several dozen computers, single invoice, purchase order), write to us at contact@biffer.fr: we draw up a quote and create the licenses for you, without going through online payment.
