Contact Biffer: we reply within two business days

To contact Biffer, a single entry point is enough: the address contact@biffer.fr. It goes straight to Romain Rissoan, trainer and consultant in Lyon, France, and manager of OPCADIA, the company that publishes the software. Every message is read by someone who knows the product, and we reply within two business days.

This page explains which channel to use for your need, what is worth including in a support request and how to describe a document without sending it, then answers the most common questions before a purchase.

How to reach us

Two channels are all you need.

By email

contact@biffer.fr for any question: purchase, license, invoice request, support, press, partnership. We reply within two business days, often sooner.

Through the report form

The report a bug or an idea page is meant for unexpected behavior in the software and for suggestions. The email address is optional there; include it if you would like a reply.

We prefer writing: a written request lets us reproduce a problem, check a version and reply with a procedure you can reread. For a license that will not activate, put "license" in the subject line; these requests are handled first.

For a request about your personal data on our website (access, correction, account deletion), the same address will do. Our privacy policy describes what we keep, and the European Commission sets out the full extent of your rights.

Pre-sales questions

Many messages arrive before the decision to buy, and that is normal: software that handles confidential documents deserves a few checks. Here are the answers to the most common questions.

  • Can I try it before paying? Yes. Biffer is free for 5 files per month, every feature included, no credit card. Simply download Biffer, confirm your email address once in the software and open one of your documents.
  • Where do my files go? They stay on your computer. Biffer works entirely offline; turn off the network and everything keeps working.
  • Which formats are supported? PDFs containing text, Word, Excel, CSV and text files, as well as images and scanned PDFs, read by character recognition and redacted by blacking out.
  • How much does it cost? €10 excl. VAT (€12 incl. VAT) for Biffer for Mac, €10 excl. VAT (€12 incl. VAT) for Biffer for PC, paid once, a lifetime license for the version purchased, tied to one computer. Every feature, profession fields included, is available from the free plan onward. The details are on the pricing page.
  • Is it a subscription? You pay once, by card through Stripe; minor updates to your version are free, and only a new major version is paid for again. An invoice is issued on request.
  • Does Biffer make me GDPR compliant? Biffer is a practical aid to data minimization: it prepares, you review and approve, and you stay in control of your legal compliance.

For a specific case (an unusual document, an identifier specific to your profession), describe it to us without sending it: we will tell you exactly how Biffer handles it.

Support: what is worth including

For a support request, a few details let us answer right the first time:

  1. The software version. It is shown in the lower left corner of the Biffer window.
  2. Your system. macOS and its version, Apple Silicon or Intel.
  3. The file type. PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, text, image or scan, and if possible the software that produced it: a PDF exported from a word processor and a PDF generated by business management software behave differently.
  4. What you expected and what happened. Data not detected, a false positive, altered formatting, an error message copied word for word.
  5. The steps to reproduce it. The order in which you did things, and whether the problem happens every time.

Describe the document, keep it with you. Biffer exists so that your files stay on your computer, and that applies to our inbox too. If an example would help, build a fictitious file that reproduces the problem, with made-up names and numbers: the structure is all we need.

For a bug, the report form is the most suitable channel. For a license question, give the account email address and the machine ID shown in the software, without attaching the key itself.

Press and partnerships

Journalists, trainers, professional organizations and software publishers who want to write about Biffer, test it or include it in an offering can write to the same address, with "press" or "partnership" in the subject line.

For the press, we answer questions about how the software works, about the difference between pseudonymization and anonymization, and about the use of AI in regulated professions, with screenshots and a trial version. Romain Rissoan speaks as a trainer on these topics and answers in writing or in interviews.

For partnerships, three cases come up regularly:

  • Training organizations and trainers who want to present Biffer in a course on AI or the GDPR: we provide licenses for the sessions.
  • Professional bodies, unions and networks that would like to buy licenses in bulk for their members and assign them from an account; the professions pages show the fields already supported for eighteen professions.
  • Publishers of business software considering an integration: Biffer remains offline desktop software, and any integration keeps that advantage.

Biffer's recommendations come from its users: if you recommend Biffer, it is because it has been useful to you.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly do you reply?

We reply within two business days, Monday to Friday, excluding French public holidays. In practice, most messages get an answer the same day or the next. Requests about a license that will not activate are handled first: put the word "license" in the subject line. If you have no reply after three business days, check your spam folder, then send your message again; a filter sometimes blocks an unknown address. Every request gets an answer.

Do you offer a demo or onboarding support?

The best demo is the software itself: the free plan gives you 5 files per month with every feature, after a simple email confirmation in the software. For a team that is unsure, we can set up a half-hour video call to show how it works on fictitious documents and answer questions from users and the IT manager. For a rollout across several computers, we help with buying licenses in bulk and assigning them to colleagues from the account. Write to us with your profession, your context and the number of computers involved.

Can we request a feature?

Yes, and we welcome it. The report form takes ideas as well as bugs. Our roadmap, described on the about page, is built from these requests: the Windows version, OCR for scanned PDFs (now built in) and new formats are on it because users asked for them. Describe your concrete need rather than a technical solution. We reply to every request to say whether and how we plan to follow up, and we announce dates as soon as they are certain.

Your business documents anonymized, ready to be published or handed to an AI tool.
