Legal notice for biffer.fr
This English translation is provided for convenience; the French version on biffer.fr prevails.
This legal notice applies to the website biffer.fr, including its English version biffer-software.com, and to the Biffer software presented there. It is drawn up in accordance with French Law No. 2004-575 of 21 June 2004 on confidence in the digital economy, which requires every website publisher to make available to the public the information needed to identify the publisher and its host.
Information on the processing of personal data is set out in our privacy policy, and the conditions for purchasing a license in our terms of sale. For any question about the content of this page, the contact address given below is all you need.

Website hosting
The website biffer.fr is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., whose head office is at 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States. Cloudflare delivers the website's pages, distributes the software's installation file and runs the customer account functions (sign-in through a link sent by email, license key generation, assignment of licenses to colleagues).
The Biffer software itself uses no host: it runs entirely on the user's computer and sends no document, no fragment of text and no usage data. The documents you process with Biffer are therefore hosted nowhere other than on your own hardware (see the offline software page).
As host, Cloudflare keeps technical connection logs (IP address, timestamp, pages requested) needed for the security and operation of the service.
Payment and email service providers
Two service providers are involved in running the website, in addition to the host. Neither has access to the documents processed with the software, which never leave the user's computer.
- Payment: Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., a company established in Dublin (Ireland), processes card payments made on biffer.fr. Card details are entered on Stripe's secure pages and never pass through the website or our servers; we never see them. Stripe sends a receipt by email after each payment. An invoice is issued on request to contact@biffer.fr.
- Transactional emails: Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, Paris, France) sends the account-related emails: sign-in link, purchase confirmation, license assignment, reply to a report. Brevo receives only the recipient's email address and the content of these messages.
The conditions under which these providers operate, the data they receive and how long it is kept are detailed in the privacy policy. The terms of sale, payment and delivery of licenses are set out in the terms of sale.
Intellectual property
The entire website biffer.fr (texts, structure, illustrations, logo, the name "Biffer") and the Biffer software (code, interface, documentation) are protected by copyright and, where applicable, by trademark law. They are the property of OPCADIA, unless stated otherwise.
Any reproduction, representation, modification, publication or adaptation of all or part of these elements, by any means whatsoever, is prohibited without the publisher's prior written permission, with the exception of the following uses:
- browsing the website and downloading the software for personal or professional use in accordance with the terms of sale;
- short quotations of the website's texts, with the source indicated and a link to the original page, for information or review purposes;
- using the name "Biffer" to refer to the software in an article, a review or a training course.
The Biffer license granted on purchase transfers no ownership rights in the software; it confers a right of use under the conditions set out in the terms of sale. Trademarks mentioned on the website (macOS, Windows, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Stripe, Brevo and others) belong to their respective owners and are mentioned for information only, without affiliation.
Liability and governing law
The publisher strives to keep the information on the website accurate and up to date. It cannot, however, guarantee that it is free of errors or suited to any particular situation. Explanations relating to the GDPR, anonymization and pseudonymization are given for general information; they do not replace the advice of a legal professional or the publications of the competent authorities, first among them the French data protection authority, the CNIL.
The Biffer software is a tool to assist with anonymization. It detects and replaces data according to the rules and checks described on the website, but no automatic detection is exhaustive. The user reviews the output document and remains solely responsible for its use, including its transmission to a third-party service. The publisher cannot be held liable for undetected data, a false positive or the use made of a processed document.
The website and this legal notice are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, and failing an amicable resolution, the French courts have jurisdiction. For consumers, the rules on jurisdiction and mediation laid down by the French Consumer Code apply; they are set out in our terms of sale.
